RareSync Help
Connect your store

Match up your fields

Tell RareSync which of your fields belongs in which field in your store.

What matching does

Square and Shopify name things differently to us and to each other. What we call Category, Shopify calls Product Type. What we call Tags, Square calls Labels.

Matching is where you say which of our fields lands in which of theirs. We set sensible matches when you connect, so most shops never open this screen.

When you would change one

Change a match when your store already uses a field for something else. For example, your Square Labels hold supplier names rather than the tags you want to send, so you would rather send your tags somewhere else.

If your store is set up in the ordinary way, leave this alone.

The fields you can match

Seven fields are editable:

  • Product Name
  • Description
  • SKU
  • Price
  • Category
  • Tags
  • Images

Barcode, weight and dimensions are not on the list, because they do not sync at all. See What syncs, and what does not.

Change a match

  1. Open Sync.
  2. Choose View integration on the store you want to change.
  3. On Sync settings, find Matching Fields and choose Customize.
  4. Pick the store field each RareSync field should go to.
  5. Choose Save Mappings.
  6. Press Sync Now to send your catalog again with the new matches.

Only fields that hold the same kind of value can swap. Text goes to text, and a list like Tags can only go where a list fits. Price only ever goes to price, so nothing you do here can put a description where the money should be.

Put it back the way it was

If a change causes trouble, set the field back to the one it started on and save again. The starting matches are the plain ones: Product Name to the store's title, Description to description, and so on down the list.

Then sync again so your store catches up.
