What each role can do
Owner, Admin, Member and roles you make yourself.
Every person in your workspace has one role, and the role decides what they can touch. Three come with RareSync.
The short version
| Owner | Admin | Member | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Add and edit items | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Delete items | Yes | Yes | No |
| Connect and set up stores | Yes | Yes | No |
| Change workspace settings | Yes | Yes | No |
| Invite and manage people | Yes | Yes | No |
| Billing and plans | Yes | Yes | No |
| Delete the whole workspace | Yes | No | No |
Owner
Full control, including deleting the workspace itself. That last one is the only thing an Owner can do that an Admin cannot.
You are the Owner of the workspace you created.
Admin
Everything an Owner can do, apart from deleting the workspace.
That includes billing. An Admin can change your plan, cancel it and see your payment history. Give the role to someone you would trust with the card, not to whoever needs to delete a mistyped item.
Member
The day-to-day listing role. A Member can:
- see the catalog
- add items
- edit items
- see your store connections and settings, without changing them
A Member cannot delete items, manage the team or change settings. Billing is not listed for them anywhere in the app. Other controls they cannot use are either missing or greyed out, with a note explaining why.
This is the right role for most people.
Roles you make yourself
On some plans you can create your own roles and choose exactly which permissions they carry. Useful when Member is a little too tight and Admin is far too loose.
- You give the role a name. RareSync makes the underlying code from that name itself, and that code is fixed once the role exists.
- You can rename a role and change what it can do afterwards.
- Check Settings, then Billing to see whether your plan includes this.
Every plan has roles. What the higher plans add is making your own.
