Open an item to see and edit its name, price, photos and more.
Open an item
In Catalog, tap any item. Its details open with the photos at the top and the fields under them.
Edit what you need and save. Everything on this screen is yours to change, including anything we drafted for you.
Name and description
The name is the short line you and your shoppers see in a list. Keep it to the thing itself.
The description is the longer text a shopper reads on the item page. If we wrote it, read it once before you save. We are good at the shape of a listing and we cannot know what makes your item special.

Price
Enter the price you charge, as a plain number.
Prices show in your workspace currency, which follows the country on your workspace. If the currency looks wrong, that is where to fix it. See Your workspace.
SKU
A SKU is your own code for the item. It is how you tell two similar things apart on a shelf, on a label and in a report.
Each SKU has to be unique inside your workspace. If you save and we say the SKU is taken, another item already has it.

Category and product type
Category is the aisle. Home, Apparel, Garden.
Product type is the thing itself. Mug, Shirt, Planter.
Both are free text, so use whatever words your shop already uses. They are also what the Category and Product Type filters are built from, so being consistent pays off later.
Tags
Tags are short words you add for your own use: a maker's name, a season, a material, the market you bought it at.
They are searchable and they sync to your store, so they are a cheap way to group things that do not share a category.
Photos
Photos sit at the top of the item. Add more, or remove ones you do not want.
The first photo is the one that shows in your catalog list, so lead with the clearest shot of the whole item.
Status
Status sits with the item's other fields. Pick from:
- Draft, stays in RareSync. Unfinished. It never goes to your store.
- Ready, not for sale yet. It goes over on the next sync and waits there. On Shopify it lands as a draft nobody can see. Square has no draft, so a Ready item sits in your Square Item Library like anything else.
- Live, for sale everywhere. Shoppers can buy it on every store you have connected.
- Archived. Taken off your store, kept here.
Changing status does nothing to your store by itself. It takes effect the next time you send your catalog over. See Send your items to your store.
There is a fifth value you never pick. When something sells on a connected Square, RareSync marks the item Sold and takes its listing down for you.
